Pregnancy may have started to show a little. You would no longer find any curves on the margins, all tummy area is slowly rounded off for the preparation and baby pushes. But relax, this is all temporary and will go off slowly after the baby is out.

Your body

Your uterus is growing against gravity every day to accommodate the expansion, and is about in between the navel and the pubic bone. Your mid wife and the gynecologist will actually examine it all in your subsequent visits.

Weight gain

It is rising, but as always don’t worry and take all in good motherly spirits.

Your baby    

Congratulations, from now on your fat will actually be going to the baby as well. It will accumulate beneath the baby skin as brown fat to protect later from the varied temperature variations; he/she would have to bear in the outside world. With almost all structures well formed, the baby is growing and gaining some real weight. As of now, the baby weighs about 140 to 150 grams and measures approximately five inches in total.

Hearing sensations are developing and any loud sound can actually leave your baby frightened. So it is better for the mother to keep herself away from any noisy domain.

Tests

Some gynecologists may ask the would-be-mom to go this week for a triple marker test, whereas few may schedule it for later. In most cases, this blood test is done from the 18th to the 20th week to assure accuracy, but in special cases it could even be done till the 22nd week.

Exercises

One must keep up a bit of active schedule. A daily walk for 30 to 40 minutes and 15 minutes of meditation will help ease all issues.

Recommendations

From now, with a lot of stretching and tissue changes you will often experience abdominal discomfort, remember no pain but discomfort. A small amount of abdominal stretches and uneasiness is common and not much to worry; it only indicates that your baby is growing. But in case you feel or find the sensations unbearable, then consulting your gynaecologist would be no harm.
